NATIVE AMERICAN
SOVEREIGNTY

As an area of personal interest in law school, Michael Steifman undertook extensive independent study on the topic of Native American rights, including the evolving application by the US Supreme Court concerning Native American sovereignty. As a result, the firm is focused on engaging on all related topics. The firm is proud to be currently engaged in litigation relating to an anti-trust action to address treatment by gaming companies about pricing of certain gaming equipment to Native American gaming companies. The firm has also developed novel taxing concepts to assist Native Americans in asserting their sovereign rights and is especially interested in cases similar to recent sovereignty affirming Supreme Court decisions such as McGirt v. Oklahoma, and Washington State v. Cougar Den.

The firm continues to explore how it can be an active voice in strengthening Native American sovereignty issues and welcomes the opportunity to speak with those who may have relevant legal issues.
